How important is artificial intelligence to be explained?
Explaining artificial intelligence is critical – Failure to explain a decision is a guaranteed way to undermine trust. As many as 80% of artificial intelligence and ML projects come to a standstill because there is a lack of trust, transparency and explanability in the models and data. Because the ability to understand and, most importantly, rely on the results and outcomes of ML algorithms, ensures that organizations can accurately describe models, understand impacts, and protect themselves from potential and unexpected biases. Explained artificial intelligence guarantees the accuracy, fairness, and transparency of artificial intelligence decision-making and is necessary to increase confidence in the production of models. Could you look at the details of when and how CognitiveScale originally relied on the AI concept?
We created CognitiveScale with one goal: to give businesses the confidence and trust they need to succeed in the digital systems they need. In 2019, the World Economic Forum recognized CognitiveScale as a technology pioneer that will shape the deployment of responsible artificial intelligence in regulated sectors such as healthcare and financial services.

Cortex fabric is our low-code developer platform that automates the development of reliable artificial intelligence applications, such as artificial intelligence software. It is deployed in all clouds — AWS, Azure, Google, IBM Cloud, or On-Prem — and works by simplifying the integration of data, models, rules, and even analytics based on legacy enterprise systems. With more than 127 connectors, Fabric connects to first- and third-party sources, both batch and streaming sources, and connects them to a semantic database that focuses on entities such as customers, products, employees, etc. It draws unique and personal conclusions machine learning models for identifying intelligent insights that are then delivered to engagement systems. As an artificial intelligence middleware layer, it is tightly integrated with the artificial intelligence management layer delivered through Cortex Certifain to continuously manage artificial intelligence applications and detect and correct artificial intelligence risks such as fairness, explanability, sustainability, and performance. Cortex also offers industry-specific drawings called Cortex Application Blueprints, which speed up the time to build and deploy trusted artificial intelligence applications. Last month, we launched Fabric version 6, which expanded functionality by making it easier for citizen developers to design and track targeted artificial intelligence applications that are matched to business metrics even faster.
CognitiveScale’s Cortex certification allows companies to build confidence in their digital systems by detecting and scoring black box model risks. Could you refine this solution and how it works when creating the first ever unified trust point, the AI Trust Index?
Cortex Certifai is our model intelligence platform for the design and implementation of transparent, fair and efficient artificial intelligence systems, while reducing the business risk associated with latent errors in artificial intelligence models, ensuring that they are explanable and sustainable for changes in data and data quality. Cortex Certifain’s visual interface allows key stakeholders (information researchers, inspection and compliance departments, business owners) to understand, assess and correct potential business risks of artificial intelligence. We offer a combined score of the four dimensions (Bias, Explainablity, Robustness, Performance) of AI risk, called the AI Trust Index, that an organization can determine based on industry standards and practices. We work with the Institute for Responsible Artificial Intelligence (RAI) as an independent body to help organizations interpret and assess their business risks in compliance with regulatory standards. Cortex Certifai works with any black box model, including machine learning models, statistical models, business rules, and other predictive models.
How can AI applications help improve patient outcomes through individual and personalized healthcare?
Healthcare AI has a profound impact on patient outcomes, service and operating costs. In marketing, generating AI Powered leads provides information about specific target markets or cohorts and lead attributes that can be used to determine more specific keyword costs and marketing efforts. An intelligent sales assistant with artificial intelligence can improve salesperson productivity and results with indicative recommendations, proactive alerts, and market information.
