Music streaming services make it a bit difficult to move your favorite songs when you decide to change your favorite service. If you’re moving from Apple Music to Spotify, we’ll show you how to take your playlists with you.

How to move playlists from Apple Music to Spotify

As much as we would like to show you a native way to migrate your Apple Music playlists at Spotify, this is simply not possible. That’s why we’re going to be using a third-party tool to do the job.

This tool is called “Tune My Music” which is a simple website that allows you to move your songs from one streaming service to another. They offer paid plans, but its free tier lets you move up to 1000 songs at a time from Apple Music to Spotify. If you have more than 1000 songs to move, you can always repeat the process to carry your entire library.

To start porting your playlists, open Tune my music in any browser and select “Let’s get started” on the home page.

Click on "Let's start" to start transferring playlists from Apple Music to Spotify, through Tune My Music.

Tune My Music will now ask you to select the source service. Since we’re saying goodbye to Apple Music, this is the one we’re going to select. So go ahead and tap on “Apple Music”.

To select "Apple Music" as a source on Tune My Music, if you want to move your playlists from the service.

After selecting Apple Music as the source service, you will see a pop-up asking you to connect your Apple Music account to Tune My Music. Enter your Apple Music credentials (which are basically your Apple ID email address and password) and sign in. On the next page, Apple will ask you to confirm whether you want to allow Tune My Music to access your Apple Music library. Click on “Authorize”.

Click on "To allow" to authorize Tune My Music to access your Apple Music account.

Once Tune My Music has access to your Apple Music library, it will show you all the playlists in your account. You can scroll to the “Playlists” section and uncheck the playlists you don’t want to transfer. If you select everything and try to transfer your huge music library in one go, be aware that it takes a long time to move everything from Apple Music to Spotify.

On the Tune My Music website, you can check the playlists you want to move from Apple Music to Spotify. If you want to avoid moving a playlist, you can also uncheck it.

When you have finished selecting the playlists to transfer, click “Next: select destination”.

On the Tune My Music site, click "Next: Select the destination" to choose the streaming service you want to send your playlists to.

On the next page, select “Spotify” from the list of music streaming services, because that’s where we send our Apple Music playlists.

On the Tune My Music site, click "Spotify" to select it as the destination for your Apple Music playlists.

You will see another pop-up asking you to sign in to your Spotify account. Once logged in you can read what Tune My Music will be allowed to access, scroll down and click the button “Accept” button to continue.

Click on "To agree" to authorize Tune My Music to access your Spotify account.

This will bring you back to Tune My Music, where you can check the number of songs moved from Apple Music to Spotify. When you’re done, click “Start moving my music.”

On the Tune My Music site, click "Start moving my music" to start sending your Apple Music playlists to Spotify.

You can now sit back, relax and launch your favorite playlist while you wait for Tune My Music to complete the transfer. When finished, your Apple Music playlists will appear on Spotify. Tune My Music will mark some missing songs in red during transfer. It’s worth pointing out that sometimes these songs might have a slightly different name on Spotify, so you might be able to locate them after all.

Tune My Music moves your Apple Music playlists to Spotify.

As we mentioned before, you can repeat this process on Tune My Music multiple times, until you have brought all your music to Spotify. Discover new music on Spotify is also easy.
