The European Medicines Agency recommended to allow Modern Covid-19 vaccine for 12 to 17 year olds on Fridays. It is still awaiting the approval of the United States Food and Drug Administration.

A study of more than 3,700 children showed that the injections produced an antibody response comparable to that seen in adults, the EU regulator said. It comes nearly two months after Moderna announced the vaccine efficacy in adolescents.

Previously, Pfizer’s vaccine was the only one approved for adolescents in Europe, the Associated Press noted.

More … than 137 million doses Moderna’s vaccine had been given in the United States on Friday, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and nearly 62 million people have been fully vaccinated with the vaccine. In the 27 EU Member States, over 35 million doses were administered, according to data from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control.
