This is my 4 month review of Shock Hosting.
I plan to review the one-year mark and then every year thereafter. I have a 3 year hosting plan that I paid for in advance.

I have several websites hosted with them Low shock and Super shock plans. Currently, they are very small websites. I have a landing page for a privately owned email, a follow-up site, and a credit card offer website (think SlickDeals, but credit card bonuses.) The plan was to get the credit card bonus site going, but life got in the way. My job is being reorganized, I’m looking for new jobs, I’m trying to get a promotion, etc. I’ll be back in the fall. In any case, for review!

First registration process:

I see Shock Hosting constantly advertised in the WHT Shared Hosting Offers section. They’re attached to the top, but I’ve never liked them. Why? There is not much talk about them. Seriously! It was hard to find reviews. There are some, but not many like other web hosting companies. They also have only a 7-day refund policy, which I shouted “horrible host”. I thought the servers would be oversold because of their cheap prices (which includes a free IP address) and small window credit policy. Originally, I was just planning to sign up for Shock Hosting as a quick trial (1 day) and then cancel. I wanted to see what their servers were like, and check their resources, etc.

Shock Hosting sent a follow-up email on weekdays at 3:00 a.m. approximately one hour after the cancellation request was sent. They wanted to ask a question about the reason I had asked for my cancellation. I said it was because my current host had more resources on what I wanted to build on my credit card bonus site. I am a night owl and happened to be up at 3:00 am! I responded to Shock Hosting, and we really ended up doing something to get me to stay. I have never had a host do this with me before! I was completely impressed! I just never felt like the hosts let you sign up for anything they saw on their website.

They have always responded fairly quickly. I think the longest response time may have been up to 1 hour. Not worse. Most responses were about 30 minutes. I’ve only opened two tickets, but so far everything has been great. All tickets opened in the evening, so it’s nice to get support outside of 9-5 p.m.

WOW! Shock Hosting servers are the best I have ever seen on shared hosting. I will be hosted at their Dallas location. 32 cores, server load up to 3.5 or less. Often between 1.0 and 2.5. Everything is very fast. I could not be happier! The only shared hosting company I researched and think I have faster processors was MechanicWeb. I considered them, but they cost more than what I pay for Shock Hosting. Also, I’m completely happy with Shock right now.

Occupancy rate:

I have had 0 downtime in 4 months. I follow my website with StatusCake. Shock Hosting had some downtime at its other server centers. I got the status update emails and they were on their game to keep their customers up to date. It was due to a switch that did not restart after a crash. The second time was at their Los Angeles data center, and there was a problem upstream of them. Everything was resolved within a reasonable time.

Final thoughts:

They provide a free IP address for each hosting account. We’ve all heard old wives say their own IP address helps SEO. I have read countless articles that help and not help. I just have to say that getting a dedicated IP address can’t hurt! I love that I have my own IP address with shared hosting. Most hosts don’t even offer it for lack of it.

Shock Hosting is literally my new favorite host! I could not be happier Everything has gone well and the support has been a great couple of tickets!

Over the past year, I’ve tried: Hawk Host, BigScoots, HostWithLove, HostMantis and CrocWeb. All of these hosts are great (except Hawk Host. Their servers are so slow and outdated.)

I’m not talking about each host, but if I were to classify them in general order, I would:
1. Shock Hosting / BigScoots (tied) because BigScoots has the BEST support, but it costs more.
2. 3-way road between HostWithLove / HostMantis / CrocWeb. You can’t go wrong with these guys.
3. Hawk Host in last place.

I have been a WHT member since 2005. Over the years, I have tried almost all of the great hosts mentioned in the WHT. Shock Hosting deserves this glowing positive review for great servers, great prices and added benefits! For those who want to check the validity of the review, one of the domains I hosted is: Inbox (d0t) GQ <----, which is the start page for my email address. One of my other domains is: MyB @ nkB0nus (dot) com <--- credit card bonus site.
