Bluepoint Games’ Twitter bio said it was “fully independent” as rumors were circulating that it could be acquired by PlayStation Studios.
the Demon souls developer recently added that it is a “fully independent, self-funded studio” to his Twitter bio, which it seems was not previously featured in the social media site description company no later than March 2021.
Not only that, but the studio also allegedly added the same phrase to a job posting on its website, so it now reads: “Bluepoint Games, an independent studio renowned for remakes of Demon’s Souls and Shadow of the colossus […] is looking for top talent to join us in shaping our next top AAA title.
With the use of The Wayback Machine, we can see that this phrase was not on the job listing as recently as yesterday, June 30, 2021. As for Twitter, we can only see the results for yesterday – whose sentence was included in the bio – and back to March 16, 2021, where the sentence was absent. This means it could have been added around the same time as the job posting, or between March 16 and June 30, 2021.
The reason this is of interest is due to the accidental broadcast of an image that said Bluepoint Games to join PlayStation Studios by the PlayStation Japan Twitter account before being quickly deleted a few days ago. The tweet was meant to announce the real acquisition of Returnal, Housemarque developers who will join the PlayStation family; however, it featured a graphic featuring the Bluepoint logo as well as an image of Demon’s Souls.
No one at PlayStation or Bluepoint has made an official announcement about the confusion yet, so it’s unclear whether this is an announcement that was supposed to come out at a later date or just a complete misunderstanding. .
Bluepoint Games is best known for its remasters of classic PlayStation titles such as Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and God of War Collection on PS3, as well as the Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection for PS4.
