A former executive vice president of the Trump Organization has said former President Donald Trump “deserves to go to jail” before possible criminal charges filed by New York prosecutors.
“As far as Trump is concerned, if they got any evidence against Trump, it would be to the extent that nothing major has ever happened to my knowledge… that he doesn’t know,” Barbara Res said. CNN, Jim Acosta.
She added that she knows Trump and knows that “he’s very deliberate, very measured and very vindictive, and he doesn’t follow the rules. He never followed the rules.”
Res was the former executive vice president of construction and development for the Trump Organization and oversaw the construction of the Trump Tower in Manhattan in the 1980s. She spent 18 years managing Trump’s real estate empire and was worked directly under the former president.
At the end of last week, attorneys for Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. office spoke to attorneys for Trump and said the Trump Organization and its CFO, Allen Weisselberg, could face criminal charges as early as this week.
Trump’s lawyers tried to persuade prosecutors to drop the charges against the company.
The charges come after a two-year investigation into whether the Trump organization has violated New York City laws.
Prosecutors have also started to determine whether Weisselberg’s son Barry Weisselberg received benefits that he did not pay taxes on. Barry’s wife Jennifer Weisselberg cooperated with prosecutors and handed over documents and files, she Insider has already said.
Res said she was surprised Allen Weisselberg did not cooperate with prosecutors.
“Weisselberg, I’m surprised he doesn’t speak. I don’t understand, he can’t get forgiveness, that kind of explains some of the other people but Trump has something on him I guess. the only thing I can think of, “Res said.” If he’s considering refusing to return, and you know the phrase returns implies guilt. “
She added: “Why would Trump say ‘oh he won’t go back.’ Flip means he’s got something and deserves to go to jail for a very long time.”
Res said at this point that Weisselberg is probably the “most knowledgeable person” in the Trump organization and is essential for obtaining information on any wrongdoing.
