Introduction

The Akeneo Measurements family of measurements is used to group units that refer to the same product measurement, such as weight, length, frequency, and so on. PIM (Product Information Management). For example, a weight measurement family allows you to record product weights in grams, kilograms, ounces, pounds, and other units.

How to manage measurements in Akeneo?

However, to create a new measurement family, you need to browse Settings -> Measurements -> Create as shown in the screenshot below.

After that, the pop-up window for creating a measurement family will appear as shown below.

  • Code – In this option, you must enter a new measurement family code.
  • Sticker – In this option, you must enter a new measurement family label.

This standard unit of the measurement family is used to convert other units.

  • Code (required) – In this option, you must enter the standard unit code. This code must be unique and necessary.
  • Sticker – Enter the tag in the current area of ​​the interface.
  • Symbol – In this option, you must enter the standard unit symbol.

Once you have entered the information, you need to click Save button.

However, the measurement family is now formed, and the page for displaying and adding units is displayed as shown in the screenshot below.

However, you can edit the properties of the measurement family in Features tab, as shown in the screenshot below.

Then click Save button after flipping the Labels on the Properties tab.

Add a unit to the measurement family

To add a unit to a measurement family, you need to click ADD UNIT button as shown in the screenshot below.

A pop-up window to add a new unit to the measurement family will then appear as shown in the screenshot below.

  • Code (required) – In this option, you must enter the standard unit code. This code must be unique and necessary.
  • Sticker – Enter the tag in the current area of ​​the interface.
  • Symbol – In this option, you must enter the standard unit symbol.
  • Conversion operation (required) – In this option, you must provide conversion functions to convert the unit to a standard unit.

To add multiple conversion functions with their values, click ADD A NEW USE.

When you click ADD, all units are displayed as shown in the figure below.

In the Label Translations section, flip the labels for the newly added unit, and then click SAVE button.

However, if you want to edit a unit of measure, you must click the unit you want to edit in the list, as shown in the screenshot below.

The properties of the unit can be changed as follows:

  • Symbol – In this option, you edit the standard unit symbol.
  • Conversion functions – In this option, you modify the conversion functions or add new functions to convert the unit to a standard unit.
  • Translations of labels – Invert the unit labels in the Label translations section.

Once you’ve edited the information, you’ll need to click SAVE button.

*Entry – Each unit must have a minimum of one conversion operation, a maximum of five conversion operations per unit.

Remove the unit from the measurement family

To delete a unit of measure, you need to click Remove button as shown in the screenshot below.

Afterwards, you will need to confirm the action taken as a result of the confirmation message.

The unit is then removed.

You can delete a measurement family. you can do it by clicking then click Remove the measurement family as shown in the screenshot below.

Confirm Finally reply to the confirmation message.

Create a measurement attribute

If you want to add a measurement to a product, you need to create a measurement attribute so you can add the weight / size / length of your products … to do that, you need to browse Settings -> Attribute -> Create Attribute as shown in the screenshot below.

Select the type of measurement attribute in the screenshot below.

When the attribute edit form appears, fill in the following fields:

  • Code – Code to identify the attribute (required).
  • Type – Type based on the attribute type selected in the previous screen.
  • Attribute group – Attribute group to which the new attribute is added (mandatory).
  • Unique value – If the value of this attribute must be unique, enable this feature. For the attribute attribute type, it defaults to Yes.
  • Value per channel – If you want to get separate product values ​​per channel, activate this parameter.
  • Value per location – If you want each region to have separate product values, enable this feature.
  • Available in a grid – To use this feature as a column or filter it in the product grid.
  • Language specific – Only some locales can use this attribute.
  • Measurement family the family of measurements used to determine the value of the attribute (weight, length, area, etc.)
  • Default unit of measurement – By default, the unit is used to enter the value of the measurement properties.
  • Negative values ​​allowed – Give the property negative values.
  • Decimal values ​​allowed – Give the property decimal values.
  • Lowest number – The smallest value that can be used.
  • The largest number – Maximum allowed value.

Click Save button save your attributes.

Add a unit of measure to the product

Afterwards, you need to create a new product. in order to do so, you have to browse Products -> Create as shown in the screenshot below.

Additionally, you will see two options after selecting the Create Product icon: Product and Product Model. You need to click Product to create a simple product.

Once you have selected a product feature, you will need to provide certain information.

SKU (storage device) – The Inventory Management Unit (SKU) is a unique identifier for a product that helps in tracking inventories.
Product family – The product family has a set of features that show products of the same industry.

However, the product window will open when you click the Save button, and you will need to fill in the unit of measure and product information here and save the product.

*Entry – You cannot delete a measurement family from Akeneo Measurements if it is accompanied by a product definition.
