This week, some of the world’s most powerful leaders will meet in Cornwall at St Ives at the annual G7 summit. And to send a message that is visible all over the world, the retailer MusicMagpie subscribed Recyclemore Mountain – a sculpture inspired by the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota.
By Art newspaper, a sculpture made of 12 tonnes of electronic scrap is located on Sandy Acres in Cornwall, opposite the G7 summit.
Its goal is to raise awareness of the damage caused by e-waste as world leaders prepare to discuss climate change and a greener future.
Recyclemore Mountain depicts the faces of seven leaders present at the summit: U.S. President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
One sculptor creators Joe Rush said BBC“We have this look at them, and hopefully we’re going to inject their conscience and make them realize they’re all together in this waste industry.”
In addition for the sculpture, £ 1 ($ 1.40) for each consumer product sold to mucisMagpie becomes a WasteAid charity. The proceeds will be used to fund WasteAid’s sustainable e-waste management training programs in low-income countries.
