Steve Crowe is on vacation this week, so it’s a solo show this week.

This week I spoke with Florian Peston and Joe Wieciek about The Origins and Mission of The Robot Operations Group (affectionately known as RobOPS). This is an informal group to which anyone interested in the scaling problems of 10,000 units of robotic fleets will be invited to join the discussion. The group organizes monthly meetings and maintains a discourse server for the group. You can find links to these resources on their homepage.

I sit down to discuss what it’s like to be part of the Standards Committee with Mike Bearman on Vecna Robotics. Mike represented Vecna in the creation of the recently published safety standard for ANSI / RIA R15.08 mobile robots. If you’ve always wondered what it’s like to grind through standard creation, you’ll find this discussion enlightening. We also talk about what compliance with the R15.08 standard requires and how Vecna AMRs meet that standard.
