Facebook may soon become even more established in your daily life, and the company is developing a new smart watch that says reports, could go on sale sometime next year.

The new device would add to The Social Network’s growing range of devices, which now includes its portal video calling device, the Oculus VR series, and will soon count on its upcoming AR glasses.

There have been rumors about the Facebook clock get around for a while, but the latest data seems to be a solid view of what we can expect.

Although Facebook has not confirmed the reports as such, the company’s AR / VR director Andrew Bosworth responded to The Verge’s article On Twitter, saying that:

“We’ve said we want AR glasses to be really useful – we’re investing in all types of technologies that make interaction more natural and intuitive. This includes research like EMG, Haptics, adaptive interfaces that could become a single wrist-based form factor.”

Facebook revealed its research into AR’s wrist-based controllers earlier this year, which would comprise a clock-like device capable of reading muscle commands passed through the hand, which it could then turn into triggers to respond in a digital environment.

The process utilizes EMG or electromyography, which converts the motor signals of the electric motor through sensors that detect as they pass through your limbs.

It looks like the Facebook clock is going to be much more than just telling the time, and with the simultaneous development of its AR glasses, it could end up being a much more significant device than many had expected.
