There are a few disadvantages to working from home, but it’s mostly a good thing. Here are seven ways work at home can improve your life.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to make your own lessons? Do you ever want to be able to stay home in your pajamas and work on your couch?
These are just a couple of benefits of working from home.
But working from home doesn’t mean you never get out of bed or always stay in your pajamas. Many people who work from home have a designated office and they go to work like other employees.
Some people still wear work clothes to work at home, and there’s still something great about it. The beauty of working from home, I think, begins and ends more with freedom.
1. Keep a flexible schedule
If you’re like me, working is just a way to survive in this crazy world. You may have other things you want to spend time on, such as art, music, or outdoor activities.
When you are able to create your own schedule, you have the flexibility to do more things that you enjoy.
Working from home often requires working on a computer or laptop, giving you even more flexibility. If you want to travel, you can take your work with you.
Kick back to the beach and respond to work messages or spend a day in the mountains when you’ve finished your work in the comfort of your hotel room.
The freedom of flexibility allows you to optimum
2. Avoid commuting
Driving to work during rush hour traffic can be the hardest part of your day.
If you leave five minutes later than usual, you run the risk of being 30 minutes late for work, and that’s just frustrating.
Working from home saves an extra hour of commuting. Imagine if you had an extra hour every day? What would you do with it?
Instead of spending that hour behind the wheel, give yourself the gift of fifteen minutes of meditation or yoga and start your work day calm and focused.
Needless to say, one less car on the road every day is much better for the environment too!
3. Manage your environment
You may want to play loud music to get into the workflow, but it can become quite vague in an office environment.
But if you work from home alone, you can explode music all day and be as productive as you want without disturbing one person.
Maybe you hate working at your desk or you feel trapped inside a closet.
When you work from home, you can set up your office to maximize your concentration and productivity.
4. Complete household chores that are usually reserved for the weekend
If you finish work early, you can do some household chores that you otherwise have to do at night or on weekends. Mow the lawn, wash and fold the laundry or
clean the kitchen and spend Saturday relaxing.
You can also do small household chores during a quick break.
Dividing a work day into small chores keeps you focused while working and relieves the stress of chores over the weekend.
5. Save money
Working from home can also help you save extra money.
If you’ve ever used to order at work, you know this money will grow. Working from home may reduce the likelihood of dining out because your own kitchen is only a few steps away.
Remember an hour-long daily commute? This trip requires fuel, which is certainly a
considerable amount at the end of each month. Working from home eliminates costs almost completely.
6. Have enjoyable and effective working relationships
Remember those co-workers who interrupted the workflow with their weekend stories? Imagine you only have to see them a couple of times a week, if at all.
Many companies with telecommuters practically only meet a few days a week.
If you’ve ever attended regular face-to-face meetings, you’ve probably seen heated discussions. These claims are often due to nine to five grinding stresses and tend to stifle productivity.
When employees work from home, everyone has comfort, which creates a relaxed work environment and increases productivity.
Meeting your co-workers less often makes the time spent with them more valuable and enjoyable.
7. More time with the people you value the most
The best thing about working from home is the opportunity to spend more time with the people you love.
If you’re a parent, being home when your kids return from school makes the end of the day much more rewarding.
Better yet, working from home allows you to go pick them up from school!
You will also have more time to spend with close friends and other relatives. Forget the delay in completing the task – just take a break and return to it after your kids have gone to bed.
Working from home takes the stress out of you because you know you are close to their home.
Working from home is not for everyone. Some people want to keep home and work separate, and that’s ok.
But if you’re like me and prefer a flexible schedule and more time to spend with loved ones, working from home can be great
career move for you.
