Facebook announced a beta version of the new Messenger API functionality for Instagram in the fall of 2020 intention “Improving customer satisfaction and facilitating meaningful discussions Chassis. “Today, at the company’s annual developer conference, Facebook announced it would move this feature to public availability.
Facebook wants to introduce the availability of the Messenger API to Instagram worldwide in stages. Initially, only companies with an Instagram follower account of 10,000 to 100,000 can access. The second phase, scheduled to take place in July 2021, will extend the lower threshold to cover all accounts with a follower below 10,000. Finally, Facebook plans to remove all follower restrictions from Phase 3 sometime in the third quarter of this year.
With the official expansion of the Messenger API beyond Facebook’s walls and Instagram’s increasingly brand- and product-friendly environment, many companies are expected to leverage the API to build tools that dominate customer experiences on both platforms. Facebook found that more than 90% of Instagram users follow one or more corporate accounts, which has accelerated steadily throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Messenger API provides automated answers to the demand of consumers doing Instagram business by answering common questions like “Are you open today?” or “What’s your address?” Facebook notes that companies can move seamlessly from answering simple questions with automated answers to real-time communication with a real person on more complex topics.
